New Jersey police have finally identified the man who killed himself by hanging of the Ocean Grove fishing pier as John Leatherman a 43 year old carpenter from Ocean Grove.

The reason it took over a week to identify the body is that initially a report was received at Neptune and Bradley Beach police station that there seems to be a man overboard struggling in the waters in the fishing pier.

The police discovered it was actually a decapitated body and that the man apparently hung himself of the pier.

The incident is still under investigation although deputy first assistant Rick Incremona of the Monmouth County Prosecutor's Office has confirmed that currently the investigation is not pointing towards any foul play.

Back in 2001 John Leatherman had won $1,018,861 in a slot machine at Trump Taj Mahal Casino Hotel in Atlantic City while on vacation with his girlfriend.

John was not intending to play long as he and his girlfriend were on their way to a dance club, but stopped at the casino on the way and ended up winning the million dollar jackpot on a mere $20 bet.

When asked at the time of the win what he plans to do with his winnings, John said he plans on investing some of the money, help family members and friends, and make some available for his favorite charities.

He opted to receive his winnings in annual payments of $50,943 for the following twenty years. He used his winnings to buy a winter home in Florida for his mum and continued his work as a union carpenter in the Ocean Grove area.

His stepmother, Kathleen Leatherman said that John "was very smart, very focused. He had a good sense of humor and was a hard worker."
