Nevada Governor Signs Online Gambling Legislation

After many discussions and an endless back-and-forth that kept in limbo both those in favor of Nevada-based intrastate online gambling legislation and those opposed, the Governor of Nevada Brian Sandoval signed off on a bill laying the regulatory framework required for legal online poker in the US state of Nevada.

As we reported back in March the proposed intrastate legislation was progressing nicely until Caesars Entertainment weighed in on the side favoring federal interstate legislation as a viable solution for online poker for American residents.

In April Governor Brian Sandoval also voiced his opinion in favor of a federal solution and assured parties that Nevada would be the first US state to implement online poker for its residents once federal legislation is in place.

In the past couple of months legislators have been going back and forth to try to maintain some online gambling bill that will win the Governor's approval but would still have some positive impact in the debate favoring intrastate online poker solutions for Nevadans.

Last week it was finally agreed that Nevada would allow interstate online poker for its residents but commence the processes of tenders and licensing only once the amendments have been accepted to current federal legislation to ensure Nevada stays within the federal legal framework.
