The activity of gambling has bred many superstitions over thousands of years of gambling activities by people from all over the world. Many of those superstitions have crossed countries and continents and established themselves as popular gambling superstitions that still effect until this day many gamblers.

Here is a list of some of the most popular gambling superstitions in the world:

Don't cross your legs while playing – players believe that crossing their legs will "cross out their good luck".

Don't enter the casino from the main entrance – Big casinos usually have several points of entrance and some gamblers would always prefer to use a side entrance.

$50 Bills are unlucky – May gamblers refuse to be paid their winnings in $50 bills as they think they are unlucky. In some Las Vegas casinos $50 bills are just not in use as a currency denomination when converting players' chips.

Don't count your money while you play – while the game is at play do not count your money. Only count your money once you have moved away from the table or decided to sit out the next round of play.

No Whistling or singing while playing – it brings bad luck and means that the singing or whistling player will go broke.

Wear red clothes
– this is an example of an Asian gambling superstition that claims that red cloths or a single item of clothing in red will bring good luck while gambling. It can also be red underwear.

Don't wear black clothes
– some players believe that this color is associated with death and bad luck and will not wear it while playing.

Switch on all the lights at home – before you go out to gamble make sure all the lights in your home are switched on. This will bring you good luck at the tables.

Avoid seeing Monks or Nuns before going to gamble
– people of faith are considered to be bad omens for gamblers.

Carrying lucky Items
– many players believe that carrying with them while they play items such as a rabbit's foot, a four leaf clover or a horseshoe will bring them luck at the tables.

Table behavior – Some players believe good luck will come to them if they blow on their dice before rolling it, roll the dice with fingers crossed or cross their fingers when cards are dealt to them, and some believe that luck will come from neatly stacking their chips.
